My Resources:)

I chose a shape poem and a crossword puzzle.
The shape poem could be helpful when you have to do poetry in school. A downfall is you cant put that many words into it. I did a short one but you can still tell how many lines.
The crossword puzzle could be good for study vocab. because you can put a deffinition with the words.

Current Event:)

Ashton Kutcher joins "2 and a half men", replacing Charlie Sheen.

Link: http://www.popeater.com/2011/05/16/charlie-sheen-destroyed-ashton-kutcher/

Charlie Sheen wasted no time on Friday to mock the decision to replace him on 'Two and a Half Men' with Ashton Kutcher, calling the 'That '70s Show' alum a "sweetheart" but a choice that would bring the show down. Despite his public show of gravitas, a source close to Charlie tells me that privately he's "destroyed" by the casting news.

Current event On Tigers:)

My current event is on tigers that attacked. I had to do a current event on the same thing as my knol so its on tigers too.

On December 25, 2007 a female tiger named Tatiana escaped from her pen and attacked three zoo visitors. Carlos Sousa, 17, of San Jose was killed at the scene. The tiger was shot and killed by police as she was attacking another victim, who survived. Tatiana shared her grotto with three other tigers that did not escape.

Current Event With Unemployment:)

The main measure of employment in the United States is the Current Population Survey conducted monthly by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. In a March 5, 2008 column in The New York Times, excerpted below, David Leonhardt described the birth of the survey, and its major shortcoming:
In 1878, Carroll D. Wright set out to do something that nobody in the United States had apparently ever done before. He tried to count the number of unemployed.
As is the case today, the 1870s were a time of economic anxiety, with a financial crisis -- the panic of 1873 -- having spread into the broader economy. But Wright, then the chief of the Massachusetts Bureau of the Statistics of Labor, thought there weren't nearly as many people out of work as commonly believed. He lamented the "industrial hypochondria" then making the rounds, and to combat it, he created the first survey of unemployment.
The survey asked town assessors to estimate the number of local people out of work. Wright, however, added a crucial qualification. He wanted the assessors to count only adult men who "really want employment," according to the historian Alexander Keyssar. By doing this, Wright said he understood that he was excluding a large number of men who would have liked to work if they could have found a job that paid as much as they had been earning before.

Squirt Gun fight record!:)
Thais claim squirt-gun fight record
Revelers in Thailand celebrated the Thai New Year on Wednesday by dousing each with water, in one case in record numbers.
Bangkok's Central World Shopping Plaza and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration claimed the Guinness World Record for a water-pistol fight, with 3,471 participants spraying each other for 10 minutes, according to a report in The Nation. The old record was 2,671 squirters for five minutes in Spain in 2007, the report said.
The Thai New Year, known as Songkran, begins on April 13 and last three days, although local celebrations can begin sooner and end later. Thais offer Buddhist prayers and city dwellers visit their hometowns during the holiday, but the joy of drenching each other is the holiday highlight. Take a look at water fights around the country from the Bangkok Post.

The future of Higher Education funding

Today’s meetin fees regime. Bahram Bekhradnia, Director of the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) provided an overview of the likely consequences of proposals to cut university funding, in anticipation of the release of the Browne Report. The Higher Education Policy Institute is the UK’s only independent think tank devoted exclusively to higher education. HEPI provides robust and objective policy analysis and advice across a whole range of higher education issues. Its mission is to improve higher education in the UK by creating a better informed policy environment – informed by research and analysis, as well as drawing on experiences from other countries.g of the BES Education Policy Lunchbox focused on issues arising from expected changes to the current university. I think that a higher education should be  expected and I think that regular education shouldnt take that long so that you have the rest of your life to do what you want to do! I think this will effect the teachers/ students because they could be longer days or more pay for teachers would let alot more people become teachers because they would make a little more.

current event:)

My current event was on a trooper whos beating the record for most drug bust. Heres the link :

http://www.10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2011/03/23/story-granville-trooper-sets-arrest-record-michael-wilson.html?sid=102
Trooper Michael Wilson

GRANVILLE, Ohio — Consider Trooper Michael Wilson the Ohio State Highway Patrol's heavyweight champion of felony arrests.
In 2010, none of the other 1,400 troopers in the state made more arrests than Wilson.  His total of 86 was not only the best in Ohio, but it was also a state record, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported on Tuesday.
Wilson, who works out of the patrol's Granville post, has an eye for catching suspected drug dealers.  Part of the challenge, he says, is being aware that people will hide drugs almost anywhere.
"It's very common to stop a vehicle with kids in it," Wilson said.  "One of my stops last year for a drug seizure was underneath a kid's car seat."
Wilson often patrols along Interstate 70 in Licking County, an area he referred to as part of the drug "pipeline."
"Heroin is very big right now," Wilson said, "Heroin out of Columbus going to smaller cities."
Last year, Wilson was responsible for seizing six pounds of marijuana, guns, knives, more than 1,000 prescription pills, and 1 pound of cocaine, Landers reported.
The drugs, he said, were being transported by people of all ages.
"It's everybody, there's not an age group," he said.  "There's not one age group I've arrested; 65-year-old men trafficking in cocaine."
Not every person arrested by Wilson goes to prison.  Some judges allow them to work off their time by providing information about suspected drug dealers to law enforcement, Landers reported.
"One of the alternatives if they have, say good information, can possibly be working off their charge by say, giving up a bigger drug dealer," Wilson said.
Of Wilson's 86 arrests in 2010, 79 were drug cases.  He hopes that he can break the record in 2011 and take more drugs off the roads.
"I definitely want bigger drugs taken off the street," he said.

Dayton Takes Top Spot As Sickest City

According to a new county-wide health report, two Ohio cities rank in the top 10 list of sickest cities to have the flu, ONN's Stephanie Mennecke reported on Monday.
Cleveland came in at number seven and Dayton took the number one spot.
"Quite frankly we are curious as how they interpreted some of the data," Gross said.
Gross is talking about news website The Daily Beast. They put out a list of the country's sickest cities when it comes to the flu around the same time as the Montgomery County Health Commission.
The report has been in the making for two years now, and it's merely a coincidence to have been completed the same time these numbers surfaced from the Daily Beast news site.
"When we look at the numbers from their report, versus the numbers in our report, we see some inconsistencies," Gross said.
One thing that is consistent however is the startling truths that stick out from the research.
"Basically our citizens are making themselves sick because what is killing our citizens are chronic diseases that could be prevented if people lived a healthier lifestyle," Gross said.
Gross condensed the county's report to an eight page summary, and handed it to about 2,000 business leaders in the community. He encouraged them to review it and encourage their employees to live a healthier lifestyle.
Columbus just missed the top 10 list of sickest cities. It came in at number 12.

Current Event!:)

My Current Event is about charlie sheen and how he is being replaced on Two and a half men.
With names like Rob Lowe and John Stamos already being thrown around, sources close to CBS and Warner Bros. confirmed to ABCNews.com that it's "reasonable to expect" executives are looking at actors who could revive TV's No. 1 comedy, currently canceled for the remainder of the show's eighth season.
This is relevent because people watch this show... ME BEING ONE OF THEM!! :)
 Im gunna miss this show!
RIP ... TWo and a half men show!

A Cool New Car/ Boat!

The Manta three-wheeler amphibious concept vehicle has an electric motor on each of the re...

A Guy that lived near a river made this boat/ car. He didnt own a boat because he didnt want to have to face the deal with dragging a boat trailer. So he created this Car /Boat that thesporty-looking three-wheeler concept is designed to be run on twin electric motors, with the rear wheels taking care of propulsion on water as well as on the road. The design is amongst the entries chosen by this year's Michelin Challenge Design judges for display at a recent auto show.
First launched in 2001, the Michelin Challenge Design was created by Michelin North America to spotlight creative thinking and innovative vehicle design. The first Challenge managed to attract just 125 entries, but this year there have been a record 970, and 34 of those were recently chosen by judges to be shown at theNorth American International Auto Show last month.
The Manta, by Belgium's David Cardoso Loureiro, was amongst those chosen and has been designed for those who live near water but don't want to bother swapping vehicles for travel on water and land. Many amphibious vehicle examples already exist of course, but this three-wheeler concept is a little different. The single-occupancy vehicle is electrically-powered – although exact motor details are not mentioned – and the two rear wheels are designed to power the craft on land or on water.
Many modern cars sport wheels with covers/hubs that look like propeller blades, but the Manta wheels are actual blades. The wheels turn 90 degrees to provide propulsion for the craft when in water. It isn't clear whether this process would also be used to control direction on the water, as there is no rudder visible on the renderings, but each rear wheel would be independently-powered.It's unlikely to achieve the kind of speeds or distance offered by the likes of theWaterCar Python, but could be just the thing for a short jaunt over to the other side of the lake, and beyond.

I think this Water Car Python would be a cool thing to drive.

News Relating To Today!

http://www.10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2011/02/21/story-columbus-coleman-state-of-city-gun-violence.html?sid=102
My current event was Mayor Coleman complaining about gun violence. He thinks that the source is the gun shows and how they dont do back ground checks. But they have to it is State Law! Unlike individual sellers they dont have to. Why doesnt he just stop the individual sellers. This is relevent to where we are because many people around us have guns! Gun violence is getting worse!
